Dit schilderij is gebaseerd op een werk van Eugène Delacroix: Het
huilende weesmeisje op het kerkhof. Ik werd geraakt door de emotie die in
het oorspronkelijke werk voelbaar is  eengevoel van verlies, stilte en
eenzaamheid.

Een opdrachtgever vroeg mij om dit schilderij te repliceren,maar dan met
een positievere lading. De uitdaging was om de emotionele diepgang te
behouden, maar de sfeer te veranderen naar iets lichters, hoopvollers.

Ik heb het werk gemaakt in olieverf, een medium dat doorzijn zachtheid
en diepte helpt om dat gevoel over te brengen. Wat overblijft is een stil,
reflectief moment maar nu met een gevoel van rust, warmte en
verbondenheid met de natuur.

This painting is based on a work by Eugène Delacroix: The Orphan Girl at the
Cemetery. I was deeply moved by the emotion captured in that original piece
the sense of loss, solitude, and stillness.

A client asked me to replicate the composition, but with amore positive
connection. The challenge was to keep the emotional depth, while shifting the
mood toward something lighter, more hopeful.

I painted it in oil, allowing the softness and richness of the medium to support
that transformation. What remains is a quiet, reflective moment but now with a
sense of peace, warmth, and connection to nature.
